Ain’t No Way I’m Doing This Weekly

At Least Not For Very Long

It’s strange to me. Here I am again attempting to market my own book and researching all the things. And all my research tells me part of your process as an indie author is to have a blog and post approximately once a week. Of course my first question was, “About what?”

You!”

I’m sorry? I can’t fathom how anyone would care about me and my personal life. I write so that I can ignore myself, understand? And I can’t see how anyone interested in my stories would feel differently. Full disclosure, I have never once read the personal blog of another author in my entire life. I am exclusively interested in the stories they make up.

I doubt I’ll have a post for those who care every week–because I intend to provide content about what I’m working on WAY more than I intend to talk about myself. I promise to be honest and of course I would be glad to sprinkle in details of experiences I’ve had when they are relevant.

So, I plan to publish Abaddon mid-December.

Naturally, I’m making an honest effort to generate a bit of talk prior to its release. Next on my list is to create a Discord server and perhaps a Reddit thread for Abaddon and invite interested parties to come have discussions, talk about similar stories they’ve read/watched/listened to, etectera. But another thing my vehement researching has yielded is that I need a few people to have read Abaddon prior to its release so that on the day of its release they can leave an honest review about it.

Now. I think it’s pretty unfair and outlandish to ask anyone to devour my novel in like a month and a half. I’m imagining someone asking me that same question and I have anxiety and already want to say no.

So, here’s my plan: I intend to ask friends whom I know hungrily read everything they can–who would not feel bad for telling me to my face, “No, that’s outrageous and unreasonable. I have a life.” Beyond that, I will leave the offer open to anyone who just really wants to and who thinks they could finish half of it by then in time to leave an honest review.

In return to all beta readers, you of course will be receiving a digital version of Abaddon free of charge. In addition, I would also like to give you one of 3 things of your choice:

  • A digital version of my psychological thriller short story, “The Folder”
  • A digital version of the first 10 chapters of my other published novel, Ignite, Book 1 of my Deviants series
  • A digital version of the first 5 chapters of Stoke, Book 2 of my Deviants series

For reference on which to base your decision, Abaddon is a fast-paced young adult fantasy with lots of dialogue and short chapters. Those who enjoy the genre and are quick, avid readers, and if given the proper time, I could see finishing it in less than a week.

If you are interested, send me a message on social media. We will discuss which of the 3 rewards for being my beta reader you prefer!

Thanks so much for those of you who made it this far. You’re why I’m trying. 🙂
